...Sharia.com a groundbreaking way to reduce poverty and hunger in the world...

Sharia.com is an online social business which is non-dividend paying, non-profit, which aims to empower people around the world to get out of poverty. This is done by offering the poor and the hungry a free online channel to trade and establish business entities. The more economically better off people can buy items from the poor communities to assist in income generation for the less better off.

Sharia.com wants to empower millions of people throughout the world to take action and help the 2 billion people around the globe who live in abject poverty today. The internet allows thousands of individual efforts around the world to focus on a particular region or issue and make change happen. Governments and multi-national corporates have failed the poor and the needy to date. Now you as an individual sitting in your home or office can spend a few minutes daily or weekly and collectively change the lives of millions around the world. You can do this by signing up for our newsletter, become a supporting member and a donor to Sharia.com.

How Sharia.com social business model works.

Trading method:

Over 170 websites have already been established for major cities and towns, allowing people living in those locations to buy and sell locally for free. When an individual lists an item to sell locally it is also searchable on the Global Sharia.com website, thus allowing international traders to make contact between the seller and buyer. In the future we will launch more websites for other locations. Individuals where ever they are based can join in the effort to publicise, raise donations and get involved in Sharia.com.

Special Situation/Crisis Project:

Sharia.com will undertake special activities to assist or promote an issue or cause which is affecting poverty stricken, persecuted people or people who are in distress for any reason, where Sharia.com can make a difference. Today “The Horn of Africa” crisis is a good example, where over 10 million people are suffering from hunger daily.

Why is Sharia.com a Social Business and not a Charity?

Registering as a charity places many constrains on an organisation which reduces it operational flexibility. In addition we operate globally so fulfilling many local and international charity regulations adds a heavy administrative burden. We do not want to be restricted by charity/government regulations which often hinder normal trading activities.

Being a Registered Company in England which has chosen to be a non-profit and “declare no dividend” gives a clear picture to all involved. Any profits generated will be re-invested to increase the activities of Sharia.com worldwide. Sharia.com has to by English law have audited annual accounts fulfilling English Company Law and meet the Value Added Tax rules. Sharia.com website is wholly owned and operated by Gamar Telecommunications (UK) Limited. Sharia.com is the only activity of Gamar Telecommunications. Sharia.com annual accounts will be available for supporting members to examine. This provides transparency of the whole operation. The donors and supporting members will be able to see clearly how the money is spent. Sharia.com will operate in a low cost, utilitarian manner, without expensive offices. Our aim is to keep operational overhead to less than 5% of the total annual revenue/donations received.

How Sharia.com aims to generate power and influence from individuals?

The most important contributor to Sharia.com is the individual who contributes as a supporting member and donates to finance our activities. The existing founder members decide the activity and priorities of Sharia.com. An additional advisory board will be established when the organisation is larger.

Sharia.com Ethos

Our underlying philosophy is that in a world of plenty there is no earthly reason why today over 2 billion people suffer hunger and live in abject poverty. The technological advancements in communications allows the empowerment of the individual voice, which if combined with like minded people around the globe can make change happen, for the good of mankind and this earth.

The next step for Sharia.com

For the last 2 years we have been researching, developing and testing the Sharia.com website platform. We had planned to formally launch this social business in early 2012. However, the emergency in The Horn of Africa has prompted us to start now. The hungry and sick people seen daily on our TV screens cannot wait. So please join in now and help these hungry destitute children and their families by making a donation.
